I’m a political scientist who studies and teaches about US healthcare and science policy. Beginning in the Fall of 2017, I will be an assistant professor of health policy in the Health Science Program at California State University, East Bay.  I have previously held positions as the Patrick Henry Fellow in the Department of Political Science at Johns Hopkins University, as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley/UCSF, and a research fellow at the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at UCSF.  I received my PhD from Northwestern University in Political Science in 2012, where my dissertation examined the political origins of scientific capacity in the United States and Great Britain.  My work focuses on American and Comparative public policy, with an emphasis on science, healthcare, and public health.
